FAQs

Let’s try something new

Let’s work together and find time to rest.

Who can use the house?

Right now, it’s “invite only.” But generally speaking, friends and family of the Mann Willcox household. We’d also love to host “friends of friends” if you know someone that just needs to get away for a bit – especially moms and caregivers.

Woodstock neighbors, if you have extra folks coming into town and need overflow housing, this could work, too!

How does it work?

The house technically belongs to Sarah, but we want it to feel more like a community resource.

We suggest putting $20/person/day into the kitty, which will be an account held for general maintenance and upkeep of the house.

Sweat equity also works, too! We’ll keep a running list of projects. So, if a financial contribution doesn’t make sense for you, don’t let that stop you from reaching out.

What do we need to bring?

We’ve got everything a typical house would have – sheets, towels, dishes, detergent, condiments – the usual. You’re welcome to use those things, but they’ll need to be cleaned and put back when you leave.

So, if waiting around for laundry before you leave isn’t your jam, you can just bring your own!

With consumables like toilet paper, cleaning supplies, or paper towels – if you use something up, please replace it for the next folks.

What are the rules?

Just treat the house like you do your own. You’re grown ups. Try not to break stuff, but if it breaks, try to replace it or let us know.

Be respectful of our personal things – we don’t want to have to lock them up.

Be super careful in the water. Use life vests if you go out on the kayaks (which you’re welcome to use.)

We have water access, but make sure you ask for permission if you use the pier.

Why are you doing this?

31 Sally Lane is a fantastic little house and we’re privileged to have access to it.

We also don’t have time to use it very much, and that is kind of sad! Especially when we know lovely folks that could use a getaway!

An extra house is also extra upkeep, so by sharing the load and sharing the fun, we think it’s a good, solid, win-win.
